but speaking of the Jazzanova dj, I saw it in San Diego a couple of years ago, obviously a lot has changed since then, but it was just okay to me. I'm a huge Jazzanova fan, it's just that I'm more partial to live sets. Speaking of Jazzanova, Clara Hill who is featured on the 'In Between' joint has a cd out called 'Restless Times' and their are some choice cuts on it. Might be worth picking up. Lastly, if any of you are not hip to 4Hero, you should peep them out as well.

  • jazzanova is 8 folks deep. at least 3 of them are djs.
i personally prefer rainer truby, truby trio, or fauna flash (truby trio w/o rainer) as djs.

live shows are expensive for european groups, which is why they don't happen very much. zero 7 and air (french band) have sold ridiculous numbers of cds, plus i think they've gotten more placement (movies, tv, ads) than the jazzanova guys.

how far back do you go w/4hero? they've been thru a number of different sounds, although they're best known for being d&b heads.
    • T-Bird, sorry it has taken so long to respond to you, but I finally found the "reply to button." Apparently the grey bars were extendend beyond my screen and I had to scroll to right to get it. Damn, it took a me week to figure why I wasn't seeing that button.

As for 4Hero, I only go back with them as far as the Two Pages joint. I liked it far better than Creating Patterns, though there were some gems on that one, especially "Hold It Down" with Jill Scott.

Yeah, I saw the Zero 7 set in San Diego. That shit sounded like it came off the cd. It sounded that good. What do you think about their new CD?

do you mean "another day?" "hold it down" features lady alma horton (vocal legend.)

they're getting all 40-something folky-songy. i'm about to round that corner myself (40), but i'm not really feeling their direction. not like it "sucks," i just don't like it.
        • I agree with you about the new Zero 7, T-Bird, even though I am within a few months of the big 4-0 myself.

Lots more songs with vocals on the new disc, which I agree is a stylistic variation and subject to individual taste. However,I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I think the lyrics are pretty weak compared to the first disc. The new lyrics are just not very inventive or clever IMHO.
